Theatres in and around LewesGlyndebourne Opera House The first curtain rose at Glyndeboure in 1934. Since then, this stunningly located Opera House in the heart of the South Downs, just to the East of Lewes, has developed a prestigious, international reputation. If you plan to visit the theatre, then it may be worth making a day or at least an afternoon and an evening of it. There are some great pubs and restaurants and the theatre itself has an excellent 'Brasserie', although you may need to book first if planning to dine prior to your play or show.
