The Floral Fringe fair at Knepp Castle, nr Horsham, W Sx

by Jean Jackman

A quirky, foodie, arty, plantaholic wildlife event with a vintage twist! Taking place over the weekend of May 31st/June 1st at Knepp Castle, West Grinstead, RH13 8LJ from 10.30am to 5pm both days.
Floral Fringe is a wildlife fair at heart with stalls from The Natural beekeeping Trust, The Bumblebee Trust, Amateur Entomologists, Sussex Ornithological Society and others but it has developed into much more. All the small businesses are chosen from Sussex, Surrey and Kent. We have craftspeople, vintage stalls, plants and many local food producers. We are encouraging visitors to bring their picnic gear and buy their picnics from our many food stalls to eat by the lake. We have gourmet fishfinger sandwiches, venison burgers, stone-baked pizza, galettes, potato stir-fry, organic vegetable bhajis and pakoras, pies, scotch eggs, quiches, cakes, fruit smoothies, chocolate, ice-cream, strawberries and cream and an ale tent as well as a vintage pop-up tearoom with an in-house vintage jazz singer Kerry Le Bern.
Anyone coming in a pre-1975 classic car gets a small discount on their tickets for the first two occupants of the car. Otherwise adults are £6.50, children under 14 free. Dogs on leads.
The private gardens of Knepp castle will be especially open for the event and there will be a chance to learn more about the re-wilding project.
