Wilderness Woods Summer activities
From baby bug hunts for 3-6 year olds, to a whole 'Surviving in the Wild' session for older children, Wilderness Woods, on the edge of the Ashdown Forest, is a lovely place to visit and offers a range of great summer holiday activities. There's a coffee shop providing light lunches, and acres of woodland to explore. The new owner (daughter of the couple who set it up about 30 years ago) is expanding the facilities to include camping, writers' retreats and other courses and events. Primarily though, it's a great day out for the children. They also sell lovely wooden structures for the garden and in the winter, you can even buy your Christmas tree here!
Borde Hill Gardens
Borde Hill Gardens has always been a favourite place for us. When our sons were little (one's at Uni and the other is just starting a gap year), we went regularly with a great gang of other mums, dads and kids. The
Adventure Playground
is on the way in, so you don't have to actually go into the main garden if you don't want to, but you'd be missing a treat! The beautiful Rose Garden was designed by repeat Chelsea Gold Medal winner, Robin Williams, who taught me Garden Design, so it's a day out that grandparents would also love. The grounds are extensive and you can even fish! 'Jeremy's' the famous restaurant is wonderful for special occasions, but if you just want a light lunch or afternoon tea, try his wife's

What's on at Goodwood
A festival at the famous Goodwood Racecourse to celebrate 70 years of music, fashion, film, art and design ... sounds ambitious but promises to be a great Sussex event.
